The International Trade Centre (ITC) and the African Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises (AGF) hosted the first Green Finance Conference in Nairobi on 21st June 2017.
This forum served to provide the financial community with a base to share their knowledge, experience and expertise in order to enable a fair, resilient and environmentally viable financial services sector. The conference addressed challenges within the energy sector, and explored the role of financial institutions in building sustainable communities.
Ravinder Sikand, attended the conference as a panelist and spoke about finance solutions that exist to meet the sector’s needs. Furthermore, Ravinder challenged the preconceived notion that green finance is within the NGO or government domain, suggesting there are increased numbers of investors in this space looking for profitable ventures.
